Director of Racquet Sports
Briana Harris Francois is a USPTA Professional with over 20 years of experience. Throughout her tenure, Briana has served as the Summer Camp Director and Teaching Professional at The Resort at Longboat Key Club. She also served the Director of Junior Tennis at Celsius Tennis Academy in Sarasota. As the Founder of B. Harris Kids 501(c)3, a free youth tennis and tutoring program done for needs-based and at-risk kids in the community of Sarasota, Briana has impacted over 200 students. Briana has also had experiences coaching. She coached at the University of Akron, and has worked as a private personal coach. As a former WTA player, Briana ranked in singles and doubles competition and was top 10 NCAA Division I doubles at The Ohio State University. Her specialties are doubles strategies along with stroke production. She also holds certification as a USTA NET Generation youth coach. In addition to her teaching and playing experience, Briana has developed both Youth and Adult Tennis and other Sports Programs for organizations such as Carnival Cruise Line, Learning Care Group, and non-profit organizations in the United States. Briana hold a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from The Ohio State University.
We are excited to announce Sammy Aviles as the Head Pro at The Tennis Gardens.
Before joining the LBKC Team in 2009, Tennis Professional Sammy Aviles started his tennis career training with Nick Bolletierri in Puerto Rico where he became one of the top 5 players in the Caribbean by age 16.
He started his teaching career with Nick in Puerto Rico in 1970 and eventually moved with Nick, and seven other professionals, to the Colony Beach and Tennis Resort. There they developed the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy. During this time, he was one of Nick’s top professionals and moved on with him and helped create what is now known as IMG Academies.
In 1985, Sammy started working as an Assistant Pro at the Colony Beach and Tennis Resort, and then became the Director in 1988. He ran a very successful tennis program which earned the #1 Tennis Resort in the Nation award for eight consecutive years.
In addition, Sammy has taught many top tour players including Roger Smith (#124 in the world), Jill Hetherington (#3 in the world in doubles), and worked with Jesse Levine (#81 in the world).
Sammy is a positive addition to the staff and will be giving private, semi-private and group lessons. Please stop by The Tennis Gardens and introduce yourself the next time you are at the Club.
High Performance Coach
We are excited to announce Randy Ardenfriend as the New High Performance Coach at The Tennis Gardens.
Randy has taught Top 10 Juniors in the nation, as well as in the states of Florida and California, who have received college scholarships and even ATP rankings.
Before joining the LBKC Team in 2006, Randy was the Head Pro at the Palisades Tennis Center, where he was one of the developers of Live Ball.
Randy has over 25+ years of experience and specializes in modern stroke methodology.

Born is Sarasota, Jackie Bohannon was the #1 player at Sarasota High School. She went on to play in college as the #1 player at Stetson University. As a Certified USPTR Tennis Professional as well as Tennis Canada Certified Jackie has worked in Nike Tennis Camps, West Point Military Academy, Belleair Country Club, The Boulevard Club and presently, TheLongboat Key Club Tennis Gardens.
Prakash 'Mirage' Maraj
Originally from Trinidad.West Indies, Prakash 'Mirage' Maraj,has lived in the United States for 30 years. As a Certified USPTR Tennis Professional for 25 years, Maharaj has worked with students from the New York Junior League for the US Open Junior Program, the Women's Professional Tour, Bausch & Lomb Tournament. and The Colony & Beach Tennis Resort and presently with The Resort at Longboat Key Club Tennis Gardens. Mirage is very customers service oriented and offers specialized instruction from stroke production to competitive team play using drills, strategy sessions, and match play
The resort believes in the value of a high-quality tennis concierge, a position currently held by Tania Lea. She was a Costa Rican Fed Cup player and the #1 junior in Coast Rica. She is passionate about tennis, now at the Longboat Key Club's Tennis Gardens, where she spends her days matching guests and members with appropriate opponents or drafting them into round robins
